Measuring Guide

PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW GUIDE TO GET ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS

1. Venetian Blinds / Basswood / Plaswood Blinds / Roller Blinds

Recess Mount (Fits inside recess of window)

1. Depth: ( A minimum depth of 60mm is required for an inside mount)

2. Width: Measure the inside width from left to right, in 3 places (top, center and bottom of the window). Use the narrowest measurement and deduct 10mm for clearance.

3. Height: Measure the inside height from the top of window casing to top of sill in three places.  Use the shortest measurement and deduct 10mm for clearance.

NB: You need to ensure that you take the 10mm deduction for clearance. Instant Blinds does NOT make the deduction for you.

Face Fix Mount (Fits outside of the window)

1. Head Rail: Determine blind rail position above the window

2. Height: Measure height to be covered from top of the blind rail position to top of sill or lower if overlap is desired for additional light control and privacy. Please note that a protruding sill may affect the movement of the venetian blind and record the measurement.

3. Width: Measure the width including the coverage you would like on each side of the window. We recommend an overlap of at least 100mm each side for light control and privacy and record the measurement.

NB: Instant Blinds takes NO deductions on outside-mount installations.

2. Measuring for Vertical Blinds

Recess Mount (Fits inside recess of the window)

1. First please check that the blind will fit inside (recess) the window.

2. The depth of the window should be a minimum of 90mm (for 127mm blinds) and 70mm (for 90mm blinds).

3. Check for any obstructions inside the window that might affect the movement of the blind. E.g. burglar bars, handles and even windows sills.

4. Width: Measure from left to right, at the top of the window, where the track will fit and deduct 10mm for clearance.

5. Height: Measure the height of the window on the left, centre and right hand side.  Use the shortest measurement and deduct 10mm for clearance.

NB: You need to ensure that you take the 10mm deduction for clearance. Instant Blinds does not deduct this for you.

Face Fix Mount (Fits outside of the window)

1. Width: Measure the width of the window and add 300mm – (150 each side) .

2. Height: Measure the drop of the window and add 100mm (to avoid drilling into the lintel) and 100mm to clear the bottom of the sill and record the measurement.

3. If the blind goes to the floor, deduct 20mm off the drop for carpet floors and 10mm for tiled floors.

NB: Instant Blinds does not deduct on outside-mount installations.
